Think you’re eating healthy? Think again. For the past 40 years, we have been slowly eating ourselves to death and doing so based on government guidelines about what constitutes a healthy diet. This grand low-fat, high-carbohydrate dietary experiment has led to epidemic increases in obesity and other chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.It’s time to hit the reset button. In BioDiet, health educator and researcher Dr. David G. Harper offers a new, scientifically validated approach: a low-carbohydrate, high-fat, ketogenic plan that works with the body’s natural processes to improve health and reverse decades of damage caused by our collective carbohydrate addiction.BioDiet isn’t a “diet” in the usual sense. It’s not a quick fix designed to help shed ten pounds before beach season. Drawing on his professional experience and the latest research in nutritional science, BioDiet is a lifestyle that will leave you healthier and happier. No hype or gimmicks. It’s what the science says. 1. Language: English. Narrator: David G. Harper, Dale Drewery. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/180644/bk_acx0_180644_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

"According to the data of National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE), approximately 1723 health professionals received a diabetes educator certificate in 2014. It is stated that the percentage of nurses having the certificate is 0.02%-19.6% in Turkey. In 2015, it is emphasized that 491 nurses received a diabetes nursing certificate in Turkey. The number of patients per certified diabetic nurse is high and the number of certified nurses is seriously inadequate to meet the training requirement of 6.5 million diabetics in Turkey. In hospitals, it is proposed that the hospital management plan diabetes education to be given to nurses (especially nurses working in internal medicine departments) in order to increase the rates of education given to diabetic patients."
With the increasing prevalence of diabetes worldwide and transition from infectious diseases to non-communicable diseases as the main cause of death and changes in technology along with recent discoveries in diabetes management, this highlights the responsibility of the diabetes educator to acquire knowledge and skills and most of all render evidence-based diabetes education. As a result, current Diabetes Education Training Programs need to be constantly examined and evaluated as this will place demands on diabetes specialty organizations like the ADNEP and PADE to provide a Diabetes Education Training that is responsive to the current demands of the profession. Little is known about the experiences of allied health professionals in the context of a Diabetes Education Training Program especially in the Philippines. Inspired by qualitative description, the investigator explored the experiences of nurses and dietitians who completed a Post Graduate Training on Diabetes Education.

'Use of real-time continuous glucose monitors among people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes is growing rapidly and should continue to grow until an artificial pancreas is brought to market. Likewise, use of professional systems in healthcare practices is expanding. But, other than manufacturer instructional manuals and some book chapters on CGMs, there are no standalone publications available with concise, non-commercial instructions on CGM prescription and use. Additionally, continuous glucose monitors are too often not used to their full and proper potential. This leaves users with suboptimal glucose control and can result in system abandonment. To address this, diabetes educator and author Gary Scheiner has created Practical CGM: Improving Patient Outcomes through Continuous Glucose Monitoring to give healthcare providers the skill to make more effective use of the data generated by continuous glucose monitors, in both real-time and on a retrospective analytic basis. Using a plain-language approach and distilling content to concise, practical tips and techniques, Scheiner has created a guide that will help practitioners optimize patient use of CGM systems and, ultimately, improve glucose control and patient health outcomes'--
